It's not often one sees the self-important Andrew Neil challenged and made to look ridiculous on his own prime time programme. This Bob Crow interview this morning raised my spirits more than anything so far this year:

The RMT union leader says London Underground's claims that only 3% of Tube travellers use its booking offices is "not true".

      It can be done.

      Magic!

Actually, Andrew Neil made himself look ridiculous, and Bob Crow did a good job of dealing with a series of childish, personal and anti-worker low-blows.

115/112 Crow 114/114 draw 114/113 Crow - Crow majority decision.

Neil deducted a point for the holiday photo low-blow.

being old is now more lethal

it is quite clear that for a smaller state to come about not enough people are presently dying .... policies have therefore been adjusted

This report on "welfare reform" is in my view the most devastating analysis of government policy in this area, together with its effects, that I have seen:

It is also downloadable as a pdf file for those with Adobe and ought to be read by everyone seeking to understand what is happening, as opposed to watching intemperate debates on Question Time or Channel 4.

                    How refreshing!

Mind, to his credit old Weetabix Bonce knew he was in a scrap and didn't labour the points once Bob Crow had dealt with them so effectively. There was no "I'll ask you again" Paxman nonsense.

Yep - I watch that every morning just to cheer myself up. Ams. There's a few arguable assumptions, i.e. that everything could be hunky dory if only the bosses saw more sense, but yes, good theatre!

Just a few aphorisms are worth not forgetting in this world, the most important probably being divide-and-rule. Beyond that it's down to understanding capitalism and why its operations cause groups of people to behave the way they do.

piggies trough etc George will be fighting their corner eh?

the PPI scandal presumably invalidates every bankers bonus since the initiation of the scam as the proceeds of fraud and racketeering .... all their assets for every bankk board member since 1980 [say] should be confiscated until and unless they can prove it was not based on the proceeds of crime ...

the gangsterism in our financial and corporate sectors is second only to Wall Street except none of ours has gone to prison ....

Absolutely! Just think what could be done to pre-empt cuts caused by them, were all their ill-gotten gains in whatever form or dodge to be confiscated.
