I think there is a really big important story , of which the issues around the VPO are just a glimpse.
The story of those organisations and interests which existed before, during and after the period of the Third Reich needs rather more visibility. Not all of those organisations, interests and groups were German or Austrian. Ans a lot were rather more significant in terms of power than the VPO.
