I thought the Lib Dems were in the coalition to stop this sort of thing. What with this and the charity gagging stuff, independent organised non-party political public opposition becomes much more difficult - we're left with twitter, facebook and the 38degrees/avaast set-ups. I wonder where the idea behind this bill has come from - USA? Australia?

Some of this lot* have no idea about boubndaries, it would appear. Surely once noted, that should bar you from holding public office? We have to start getting heavy with this sort of behaviour - do I mean 'heavy' or 'firm'?

Not necessarily Tories, for sure, sadly.

The opposition to the gagging law vote lost in the House of Lords this evening. That's it - it's going to become law.

It couldn't have been closer. On the final vote, 245 Lords voted in favour and 245 against. Unfortunately the rules mean that in the case of a tie, the government gets its way, in spite of a very thorough and articulate campaign to derail it.

Anyone for some non-violent civil disobedience come May 2015? Or shall we have a trial run this May?

Another sad day for our country.
              Not very liberal.
