Actually, I don't accept this - speaking from personal experience.

You're going to have to say a bit more if this is to be taken as a contribution to the discussion. I believe we all have experience of having been a child.

I have re-phrased my original question, even though the meaning was perfectly clear.

So....answer please, if you would be so kind.

Ah the difference between clarify and quantify is minimal in the Eye Spy Book of Words eh?

Is that speaking from personal experience of having been a child or a parent?

I suppose the nearest possibly acceptable answer would be :"All three, father, mother and child are equally important." Though it might still be plausibly argued that the parents have a certain responsibility for the well-being of the child; whereas the child is not normally held responsible for the well-being of its parents." [We are speaking of the "child" in the context of parental leave following the birth of a child. Therefore it doesn't include the adult child looking after elderly parents.]

So, on the subject of 'caring', the child is the most important person in the equation. Or, to put it another way: the child's interests come first.
It isn't given us to know those rare moments when people are wide open and the lightest touch can wither or heal. A moment too late and we can never reach them any more in this world.

No, all you've argued is that a child needs more care than an adult, which for the most part is correct.

                        Which part is not correct?

I presume it makes little difference to a child whether it's immediately farmed out to some other adult, not its parent, to look after. In which case both parents can get back to work as quickly as possible. And the matter of whether fathers or mothers get more parental leave is instantly sorted.

Not all grandparents live close to their own children. And many grandparents will still be working themselves - we are talking of newly born children in the first few months of their lives.
