Did you notice the construction 'I daresay'? I was speculating. I know plenty of people who are trying to give up various substances with the support of family/friends.

I don't want to give up! I was being macho, but I can't back down, can I? All I can do is pretend that I'm happy about what I'm gonna spend the money on, when all I really want is a freezing cold pint of lager!!!!!! (It's 26 degrees here)

Well, no one's forcing you to (I presume), so you can do whatever you decide about that! If it's any consolation (although I doubt that it will be), one thing's for certain from where I'm sitting, though and that's that there would be not a snowball's chance in Hell that I'd ever give up not drinking lager at any temparature!

On what grounds and into what you carefully omit to state; perhaps it's you that should've gone to Specsavers (unless they don't have a branch in Istanbul yet).

I went to Specsavers because I was taken in by their adverts. Nowadays I go to Tescos. You can get two pairs of decent reading glasses for less than £70.

Well, it wouldn't surprise me to find that Tesco have branches in Istanbul; they seem to represent credible competition on the ubiquity stakes with the dreadful McDonald's! I think the silica nose brace on each of my pairs of spectacles cost around the price that you mention; I shudder to imagine what the cost of my next complete pair of pairs of these things will run to...

Well mine are only reading glasses, so they ain't going to run to much.

My Tesco branch is in London, where I live and I'm home on Thursday.

Well, that's at least three of us in agreement about that - but which of the culprits of this widescale international fraud is likely to be subjectd to treatment remotely analogous to that which is now being put forward as appropriate to mete out to convicted UK benefit fraudsters?...

good call. I got brand new prescription gas permeable lenses for £85. using "double your money" tesco vouchers, I actually spent £5 cash.

vision express for EXACTLY the same 3 years ago was over £200.
