Some people will believe anything. Anyway, that's hardly the point, which is that if people outsiude Russia but with Russian interests wish to register their protest at so backward a step, they will.

        At last!

I said that I'd read enough to convince me that what's there does little more than you've done to show chapter and verse from the law that specifically destroys marriage as it was previously understood.

Well done. Give it time to sink in.

It isn't given us to know those rare moments when people are wide open and the lightest touch can wither or heal. A moment too late and we can never reach them any more in this world.

So you are expressing thanks to ferney for outrageously mentioning paedophiles and child murderers in the same breath as gay activists ... ?

I would have imagined that you would have thought, like me, that it read like some foaming-at-the-mouth rant to the letter-pages of the Daily Mail.

You really are an unpredictable one, amsey!

With all due respect to the house rules, you really can be a patronising git.

Wishing to withhold my professional services because of deeply held religious beliefs is not. The law would prevent me (see first sentence) but it is not prejudice.

It IS prejudice to suggest that having religious beliefs that are against homosexuals makes one prejudiced.
You cleverly (or stupidly, one can never be certain) omitted the words 'someone whom they have not met but because of their sexuality' in other words they are creating a class of person against whom they have an animus - this is clearly a prejudgement.

Why IS it prejudice to suggest that having religious beliefs that are against homosexuals makes one prejudiced in such a case?

Music is only about notes and sounds. At the most basic level, that is all there is. We then put onto that our own interpretations, emotional responses, etc., etc.,. If some listeners choose to read all about the composer's life, cultural background, sexual peccadilloes, or breakfast preferences, then that's up to them. But one can get an equally rewarding experience by just....listening to the notes, and the sounds they make.
So why do you get so grotesquely over-heated about photographs of highly competent musicians such as Alison Balsom and insist on sharing your objectification of her on this Board?
