Ok - do a little research scotty. How many MPs, members of the House of Lords, Bishops, Archbishops, Masters of Oxbridge colleges, judges are from members of the Black, Asian and other minority communities?

Isn't that the one that is part of the government that has given the green light to same sex marriage, scotty?

Well, if you could manage it, I'd still like to see one - just one - example of a piece of literature unequivocally 'promoting' homosexuality, in addition to the hypothetical Gay Pride poster you adduced earlier.

But I expect I'll wait in vain.

I don't know about you jean, but I can say with confidence that I was brought up in a society and an education system that aimed actively to promote heterosexuality.

And it simply didn't work.

So why are scotty and the Russians so worried?

Would homosexuality be so much more attractive than heterosexuality if the 'normal' majority only got to hear of it?

Jean, I gave you the example you asked for but now you have asked for another. Why don't you phone the Russian Embassy in London? They may well have copies of such literature in their possession for those in the West who have taken a sudden and unusual interest in Russian internal affairs and have the best interests of the Russian nation at heart.

I live in Cheshire, England, so it's kind of difficult for me to suddenly pop over to Russia and visit libraries etc in order to find another example that might ... just might ... satisfy your apparent curiosity. I could see myself spending a fortune regularly popping over to Russia to get other clear examples which would ultimately fail to satisfy you as well. So the Russian Embassy is your best bet ... go on, give it a try, you have absolutely nothing to lose!

And ... back to my main point ... is it really up to us in the West to dictate to the Russians what sort of society they should live in?

                I think not!

Equally then, is it really up to heterosexual theists to dictate to lesbians and gay men what sort of society they should live in?

From where I'm standing, you're one of a declining few to believe that it is.

Except for the Russians that is.

How paradoxical that you should be so keen on Russia after all the repression that Christians experienced under the USSR, scotty

Do you really not understand the difference between promoting an event, and promoting homosexuality?

And Pride events promote homosexuality. So promoting an event that promotes homosexuality, is promoting homosexuality.

Simples, as amateur would say.

Oh, this abject nonsense about 'promoting' homosexuality makes my blood boil. Why don't these fools realise that you can no more promote homosexuality than you can having brown eyes or indeed any other attribute with which you are born! And why would anyone be 'persuaded' to be gay (and I say this as a perfectly happy gay man) and have what is, for some, the trauma of coming out - or worse still living their life in the closet?

It simply makes no sense whatsoever to talk of the promotion of homosexuality and only serves to reveal and spotlight the entrenched ignorance of those who ascribe to this ludicrous notion.

We've established that you can't promote sexuality, Mr Pee. What you can promote is equality
