human rights and LGBT protesters. They criticised his support for Russian

The good-natured, peaceful protest included chants of: “No to Gergiev. No

The placards had slogans such as: “Gergiev supports tyrant Putin & anti-gay

Participants waved sparklers. The protest theme was: “Sparkle for freedom

If 'left' and 'right' didn't exist, they would have to be invented. Not necessarily as all embracing categories or pigeonholes but as a way of describing differing attitudes to various issues.

Interestingly, I was looking up 'altruism' in relation to the poppy debate, and the debate as to whether human beings are naturally 'altruistic' or 'selfish'. Collectivist/cooperative or individualist.

Arguably, selfish individualist human beings are more evolved. Or corrupted.
It isn't given us to know those rare moments when people are wide open and the lightest touch can wither or heal. A moment too late and we can never reach them any more in this world.

Well I was just trying to differentiate between different types of Fascists, for ease of reference.

Should I just call them intolerant Fascists with sparklers? Is that doing better?

BTW, Just leave Gergiev, Russian people and Putin alone.

i love a man who hurls words at you like stones, who takes care to spell Weltanschauung correctly but then trips up over Fascist.

What words will he pull out next from that box he found?

What's your point sonny jim? Why do you love men who spell a difficult word correctly, but don't bother on simple ones? And no-one is hurling words like stones - spare us the melodrama. And be quiet, it's 11.00am.

The axiom: "The Road to Hell is Paved With Good Intentions" has never seemed so true. I had Intended not bothering to look Down Here any more.

                Substantially a waste of bandwidth.

Staying on-topic is a frequent problem, I agree but sometimes I find I just have to respond.

For which all too human failing I apologise.

It went over my head. As it did when you picked up on my spelling yesterday. And the time before. You are a naughty little passive-aggressive!!

Btw, You might want to check your assumptions, or not as the case may be.

I'm now off to talk about celery, a much better use of bandwidth.

Good grief, do you really take yourself that seriously (I know I don't (yes it is a double-entendre))?

If you are going to continue with your delusion that there is a 'fascist left', you could at least use a lower-case 'f', as 'Fascist' (with a capital 'F') is the name of the right-wing political movement developed by Mussolini. 'Fascist left' is an oxymoron, Beefy.

As for sparkling, lesbian & gay protests have usually been notable for their wit & humour (on the part of the protesters; objectors to them have been notable for their lack of wit, humour or sense)

You're the sort of person who'd throw the water out of the life-boat, but keep the complete Shakespeare edition, should the choice be hypothetically forced on you. Grammar? So what!?

Yes, LGBT people/groups have always managed to keep fun, humour and joie de vivre within touching distance, even in the most depressing circumstances, but don't ask me to get excited by sparklers!

Patriotism is supporting your country all the time, and your government when it deserves it.
