For what it's worth.
I think you're a bit out of date. Chingford has changed significantly. Very diverse these days. Many black faces, Large Kurdish and Turkish communities too. I know a fair number of people that live in Chingford.

I've been to nearly all the Walthamstow festivals of the 80s through to about 2003 (I also lived in Walthamstow for a couple of years in the 80s), but not so many Chingford summer fairs; but when I did, I saw plenty of BME faces (I suppose we see what we want to see). What always surprised me was the number of SWP members that live in Chingford! I guess they have their reasons. Maybe Chingford's a good half-way house from places like Andover and other less gritty parts of Britain.

But(ter) has anyone here actually eaten that I Can't Believe It's Not Butter stuff? I've tasted it only once and came away unable to believe that it could be butter - but then perhaps as someone who invariably has butter from the Charente, Normandy or (occasionally) Brittany, maybe that's unsurprising, really...

I lived a few miles from Andover for several years. It is very gritty.....compared to Chichester.

For once we are in full agreement, MP.

Andover is gritty by any soft southern standards.

But it has some good points, and an interesting history.
(and a very good sausage stall on the small saturday market, should you be passing.)

Also , it is signposted from about 100 miles away on the A303, which is handy.

No. To begin with, we're only writing about butter rather than food in general and in any case the fact of unsalted butter coming from France does not make it any "posher" or necessarily more expensive than some other butters in UK - in fact, parts of the Charente itself are anything but "posh"; that said I find that, in UK, most Charentais butter has increased in price lately whereas the price of the same butter in the Charente itself has fallen.

Hoist by my own pétard, peut-être - there I was, only a little while ago, wondering why anyone should be asking what something on a thread had to do with the price of fish and then...

Yes, but at the same time it does appear once again to have journeyed quite some distance from Musical and/or Historical Homophobia (whatever they might be), wouldn't you say?...

                        Goes without saying, ahinton.

I'm talking about 2007/8 and you seem to be talking about 1980-2003.

That still keeps you out of date.
