Can we all agree that, at least in his currently devised personality. Mr Pee is a thoroghly unpleasant person ?
No doubt he feeds the ducks every day in real life, but we only have what we find here.
Another thoroughly unpleasant person, Rod Liddle, writes in The Sunday Times:-
Incredibly, Fry has made me feel sympathetic to the Russian Government. To equate its frank distaste of homosexuality to the horrors of the Holocaust is a histrionic absurdity. There are at least 80 countries around the world where gay people have a much, much harder time of it than they do in Russia- including 76 where gay sex is a crime. Russia's official attitude to homosexuality may not be terribly politically correct- but neither was that of say, Seoul, when it hosted the 1988 Olympics. Indeed, only 20 years ago Britain had the infamous section 28, our own equivalent of of Russia's new legislation banning homosexual propaganda.
I do indeed feed the ducks in real life, as well as the Hedgehogs that come into my garden. Perhaps Rod Liddle does the same. Not jumping onto the latest Twitter/Facebook bandwagon, or not following the PC line, does not make immediately one a thoroughly unpleasant person. Indeed there are so many on-line petitions nowadays that one could make a full-time occupation out of signing up to them. My point is that while bleating about the situation here and signing a petition about which Vladimir Putin probably couldn't care less may make amsy and others feel they have done the right thing, it won't make a jot of difference, and that's before we even get into the detail of the Russian legislation, about which I imagine 99.9% of those who have signed know precisely nothing.
Patriotism is supporting your country all the time, and your government when it deserves it.

How does Rod Little know the situations are worse on those countries? Like our own correspondent he is an arm-chair commentator. Several people who have posted here have experienced at first-hand what it's like when homophobes take to the streets apparently spurred on by Government legislation and so our 'bleating' is at least informed bleating.
Mr Pee, as usual, is attempting to steer this thread off-piste. Let's ignore him - he'll not like that.

Just out of interest, Mr Pee - what do you think the petition that I've signed is about? (And to whom addressed, for that matter?)

And what are you? We are all arm-chair commentators. Or are you suggesting that only those with direct experience of events should be allowed to hold views on them, or comment? That would rather limit the number of subjects one could discuss.

Did you ever go on a Gay Pride march during the repressive Thatcher years or before, Mr Pee? Did Rod Little? I did. That's why in my view you're an arm-chair commentator.

No, but I did serve very good vegeburgers and Filafal to all and sundry on the first two Prides....

Sounds and sweet airs, that give delight and hurt not.
Sometimes a thousand twangling instruments
Will hum about mine ears, and sometime voices..."
 excellent joke Caliban - tho given the subject of the Corrie Bill and what the other Corrie Bill has been up to (allegedly) perhaps you could find that discreet veil ... :erm:
