Must be vegan, surely? If you support the dairy industry by drinking milk or eating cheese or butter, you are condemning veal calves to be born
It isn't given us to know those rare moments when people are wide open and the lightest touch can wither or heal. A moment too late and we can never reach them any more in this world.

That is the ethical dilemma facing vegetarians - by eating eggs & dairy products they are responsible for animals being killed as a by-product of their production. The ethical dilemma for vegetarians I was referring to was in eating meat per se. The ethical dilemma for omnivores is in how the calves are raised (as it is with any meat consumption - free-range versus intensively reared). The ethical omnivore would eat organic, non-intensively reared food.

            Or non-farmed fish, I guess.

            Sashimi anyone?

              Back on-topic ....

Staff working at America's National Security Agency – the eavesdropping unit that was revealed to have spied on millions of people – have used the technology to spy on their lovers.

                "only you" what?

You could try being polite just occasionally. Everybody else seems to cope with it.

Any other groups you would care to stereotype, or insult?

A shill is a shill, as you might put it.

Oh, and if the authorities behaved sensibly, the " Brats" might not scream so much. Cause and effect.

In the present climate of European food consumption, yes. It doesn't have to be so. We could go back to Dairy Shorthorns, Aberdeen Angus, Freisans, raise the males as beef and walk the fields in safety. Equally, why are we so taken with lamb? It's the equivalent of veal (apart from the darkness torture). I'd rather eat mutton.

Mutton is very tasty I agree but it can be very fatty and takes a long time to produce so we'd need to be prepared to pay the price. Hoggett is a nice compromise.

Welsh lamb has wonderful texture, tenderness and flavour :winkeye:

Well our tiny, tiny small-holding is out of cows (beef) (we're too old) and we're into sheep (probably mutton). See how it goes.

I am so very pleased to see some good-natured dialogue here about FOOD rather than the recent political 'nastiness'!

I'm just getting ready to lob a hefty chunk of veal.

I think that someone's forgotten lambs to the slaughter, beefing on about stuff, chickening out and things being described as turkeys, not to mention "a horse, a horse, my kingdom for a horse" and that the said someone ought to get a right roasting for having done so. Back to the topic, however unpleasant it might be for some to discuss a subject that contains an assertion about having done nothing wrong...
