    Politics away from Westminster

    A resounding success for Plaid Cymru in yesterday's by-election in Ynys Môn (Anglesey).Rhun ap Iorwerth secured a 9,166 majority over Labour, who were pushed hard by UKIP in third place.

    The Conservatives' vote collapsed while the Lib Dems were beaten into last place by Socialist Labour.Had the Welsh Labour candidate won, Welsh Labour would have had an overall majority for the first time since the National Assembly was set up in 1999.

    I haven't seen any mention of this on the main BBC website.

    Meanwhile in Harare West ...

    Interesting background to this story ams! Divisions within Plaid. There was some coverage on BBC Wales.

      It seems to go back a little further. (I'd wondered whether Mr ap Iorwerth was né Edwards).
      It isn't given us to know those rare moments when people are wide open and the lightest touch can wither or heal. A moment too late and we can never reach them any more in this world.
