I worry that in those 35/ 8 (?) years he may well be 'beaten up' or in some way assaulted while in 'jail' ( gaol).

Well perhaps he should have thought about such consequences before he handed over thousands of discs of classified information to Wikileaks.

Instead, he put the general good before his personal circumstances. As an American patriot of the best kind, he exposed the corrupt practices of his fellow members of the armed forces and those who misled them.

Now, however, he appears to have succumbed to the treatment he has received at the hands of the American military disciplinary system. I hate to think what interrogation techniques they may have subjected him to.

I'm sure he'll be remembered as a patriot when all this shennanigins is over.

I hope sincerely that Mr Pee lives long enough to see the day - he'll be furious

I was going to suggest that if there were any signs of him being beaten up perhaps his fellow prisoners might rush to defend him ..............
It isn't given us to know those rare moments when people are wide open and the lightest touch can wither or heal. A moment too late and we can never reach them any more in this world.

A noble thought, but not quite what the American military penal system is best known for.

What a strange convoluted world you must live in, where a patriot is one who, without even knowing their contents, hands over thousands of pages of classified information to Wikileaks, potentially endangering the lives of his fellow citizens and jeopardizing national security.

Or is it just because he is "gender confused" that you are such a fan? It seems anything or anyone that can be even remotely related to your Gay Pride hobby-horse is automatically beyond criticism.

And don't worry. The day you mention will never come.

Given how very much lighter Manning's sentence was than what some expected and others wanted - and given how soon he may be paroled - that day is already coming and may indeed come sooner than you think.

It could just be that the transformation from Bradley to Chelsea Manning whilst in military custody may be one potential PR disaster that President Obama wishes to avoid with careful handling.

Well, as long as he doesn't also change his surname to Clinton...
