I understand the point you're making John Wright and I think it should be made forcefully to Muslim nations whose citizens have attacked UK and other non-Muslim countries for the reasons that Lee Rigby's murderers mentioned.

But my point is that killing civilians by drone attacks, as well as perhaps killing the intended Muslim target, may also kill innocent Muslim civilians. And this will lead to further radicalisation of Muslims prepared to kill British military personnel and UK citizens.

So your concern is about the threat to military personnel and Uk citizens? Maybe I got you wrong

It still sounds as though you are making excuses for them. And there were no drone attacks prior to 9/11. So what was the justification for that? :erm:

Surely, surely, the point about this is that there are two sides. There is a side that wants peace, to get on with living , working, creating. This side comprises most normal people of all ,and no faith, the world over.

there is another side that wants division, violence, and fear. On this side are governments both western and middle eastern, arms manufacturers and their bankers, probably some power hungry religious fundamentalist empire builders, far too many in the various security services and so on. There aren't many of these people , but sadly there are enough.
The lessons of history are there to learn. Ireland should be at the forefront of our thinking in this country.

                Reason
                noun
1a cause, explanation, or justification for an action or event:
she asked him to return, but didn’t give a reason
                I resigned for personal reasons
                [with clause]:

[mass noun] good or obvious cause to do something:
                we have reason to celebrate

                Excuse

                you must excuse my brother
he could be excused for feeling that he was born at the wrong time
                overlook or make allowances for:

Wasn't it the presence of USA bases in Saudi Arabia?

I can only tell you what I've told you Mr Pee. Your need to distort that is your problem.

The presence of American bases in numerous Muslim countries (such as Saudi Arabia) was at the root, I understand.

Note 'I understand' and please stop second-guessing my motives. It's unnecessary and you're not good at it.

Later: Sorry Flossie & MrGG - your excellent posts pre-empted my reply.
