A factual, fair and balanced post, with which it would be hard to disagree.

Which misses the point entirely IMV

Being an "expert machine gunner" means that one is highly accomplished at killing people
I'm not suggesting for one minute that everyone in the forces is an evil monster but to expect
people to NOT think that somehow that some lives are more important than others would be
hard to believe given the way in which some people talk .........

this is a terrible tragedy BUT to ignore the context is very foolish indeed

Anyone for a go at an ethical foreign policy ?

nope , no takers there then
so it's back to normal then

I sought to convey pretty much the same sentiments in my post above; I don't see Simon's / Mr Pee's as missing the point altogether, but the one nevertheless covers (and the other seeks to endorse) only one aspect of what is clearly a far wider issue than either suggests.

When does attempted arson become terrorism?

In Grimsby two former soldiers have been charged with arson with intent to endanger life

Two former soldiers appear in court after a mosque was attacked in Grimsby.

When does a prisoner attack on guards become a terrorist act - this one's being investigated as one.

A prison officer at Full Sutton jail near York is taken hostage and assaulted during an attack by three prisoners.

I wonder if the former soldiers will be treated similarly? :erm:

How does one rate offering tea, biscuits and football to the EDL?

A mosque is praised for serving tea and biscuits to English Defence League supporters after the far-right group arranged a demonstration there.
It isn't given us to know those rare moments when people are wide open and the lightest touch can wither or heal. A moment too late and we can never reach them any more in this world.

It's been quite an issue in UK this past 12 months Beefy - you want to stop running around Europe trying to become a Kipper Kandidate and read some British news for a change :erm:

Oh, you mean 'same sex marriage' and 'marriage'! It's about love, life-long commitment, until death us do part. The recent concept of 'equal' marriage is for people who are only interested in politics and power struggle, many of whom never wanted to get married and never will. Oh, well, it takes all-sorts I suppose.

Take that kiss back. Men should not kiss on forums - it's perfectly ok on football pitches though.
