Much of me agrees with what you say, except for the implication that we have to accept mistakes as inevitable. Do we? Should we not hold the authorities to account in a democratic society? Mistakes will happen, but we should never accept them with an "it's only to be expected..." We should always question mistakes and demand detailed (and truthful) explanations.

And that is not being anti-authority, left-wing, anarchistic or whatever.

To answer my own question: the latest news confirms this - one of the men was was born in Britain of Nigerian parents, coming from 'a devout Christian family', a convert to Islam.

I think that we should indeed be very interested in the backgrounds of people who commit terrible crimes of violence.

Over a long period of time, both in Britain and elsewhere, far too many of them have had close connections with the British government and its agents.

"State trained killer " is a very interesting term. I'm not clear what it means , or to whom it refers.

Perhaps if our governments gave a lead on violence, arms, tolerance,then a cycle of violence might be broken.
