Vox pop on PM tonight generally shows just how thick most people are (or at least those who were interviewed)....as regards current affairs and their application to what really goes down in this world...."That Boris Johnson should stand up for Britain.....it disgusting they allowed this to happen" being one of the calls.....
Are we safe? Suspected terrorist attack in London this afternoon

"Are we safe?"
I fear (literally) that some of us are not - particularly those of us who are Muslim (or who might "look like Muslims") and who, despite our decades of honest service to our country (from shopkeepers, through taxi drivers, health workers, firemen and surgeons) might now be seen as "fair targets" for racist attacks. The atrocity yesterday was committed by violent psychopaths who cloaked their vicious pleasures behind what they regard as the respectable veneer of "Fundamental Islamist"; I dread the possibility that this might be matched by other, equally vile atrocities committed by violent thugs acting in the name of "British Patriotism". Adherents only of "supremacy" Groups (be they of the "White" or the "Muslim sort) desperately need violent agression between the communities for their toxic fantasies to have any hope of infecting the wider public, who wouldn't otherwise give them the time of day.
Are we safe? I bloody well hope so.Numquam Satis!

"Those far-right groups who seek to translate public disgust at the killing into general anti-Muslim feeling are reacting just as the murderers had hoped they would.
Reports of mosque attacks are similar to incidents that occurred after the Tube and bus bombings of 7 July 2005 - pitiful acts of racism quite at odds with the general public mood then and now.
What is interesting has been the swift reaction of organisations from within Britain's Muslim communities. My inbox has been filled with statements from groups utterly condemning the murder, voicing support for British soldiers and calling for unity and peace. "It isn't given us to know those rare moments when people are wide open and the lightest touch can wither or heal. A moment too late and we can never reach them any more in this world.

The BBC, ITV and SKY have been broadcasting these condemnations constantly.
In fact, thanks to the media, we learned that the clearest and most stinging condemnation of the evil atrocity has come from the Muslim Council of Great Britain. No frantically searching for possible 'reasons' or the occasional self-conscious nod towards 'political-correctness', just a no-nonsense wholesale condemnation.
The cruel savages who hacked to death and beheaded the young, defenceless off-duty soldier on Wednesday no more represent the Muslims of this country than maverick bomb-planters in Northern Ireland speak for Irish republicans or unionists, and it is only right that the media regularly remind us of these facts.

I have, unfortunately, met many people who have such low social capability that they will embrace any cause that can be seen as being against the establishment. It does seem as if that is whet might lie (in part at least) behind this.

hmmm check out Fox News [owned by ykw]
we do not deport our own citizens, nor give them guns and we are progressive liberals so it is our own fault then .... NI continues it's commitment to evidence and the truth in news; i.e. ratings are the only evidence and truth that mattersAccording to the best estimates of astronomers there are at least one hundred billion galaxies in the observable universe.
