If my kids were at vaccination age again, I would research long and hard before going ahead.

Plenty of medical professionals don't want to have flu jabs.
I will not be pushed, filed, stamped, indexed, briefed, debriefed or numbered. My life is my own.

I am not a number, I am a free man.

        choice is good.

(except when there is too much, ie the olive oil section at Sainsburys.)

I'll mention it to my doc, Ams. or I would if I could get an appointment.

There was a discussion on Radio 5 live on Thursday about the MMR controversy. The Wakefield bashing spokesman did nothing to win friends and influence people with his constant "talking over" people with other viewpoints. In fact it weakened his argument.

There have been a few instances when autism may have been triggered by the MMR vaccination.

I am sorry EA but that is just rubbish of the first order.

The problem is when the public as , Goldacre pointed out so notably on Newsnight, get an idea based on very limited and in this case extremely flawed evidence into their heads it is very difficult when you have convinced yourself of a risk to accept that it does not exist .

The symptoms of autism tend to manifest themselves in children about the same time as MMR is due . Correlation does not mean causation.

It is depressing that so many intelligent people still have such an irrational fear .

I take it, therefore, that a case I am aware of is in fact rubbish.

I am afraid so yes as there is no evidence at all that it is possible.

You did refer to "a few" instances, not just one. And when you say that "autism may have been triggered by the MMR vaccination", it equally may not have been triggered by the MMR vaccination.

I asked back in Msg #11 that this thread should not go down the route of arguing the rights and wrongs of the medical evidence. Misinformation is highly dangerous and we aren't competent to debate the topic.
It isn't given us to know those rare moments when people are wide open and the lightest touch can wither or heal. A moment too late and we can never reach them any more in this world.

                        Thread closed. Sorry.

I appreciate the (self) deletion of the post that caused the closure of the thread, but incomplete information is misleading. Those who have doubts about the subject really shouldn't look for information here.
