Ah yes, that olive branch, written on which is "do what we, I mean the 'international community', tell you to do, or else". And, quoting directly this time, "we hope the new Iranian government will heed the will of the voters by making choices that will lead to a better life for the Iranian people." Like the Obama administration heeding the will of those who voted for it because they thought it stood for a better life for the American people, I suppose.

I guess that sums it up nicely.

How long before John Kerry sets off to Tehran then?

And how will Netanyahu feel about that?

Will Netanyahu (or AIPAC) permit him to go to Tehran?

Things have certainly moved on apace, although many appear to be unconvinced ...

            Thought for the day

"If it turns out that Barack
Obama can make a deal with the most
            intransigent, hardline, unreasonable,
totalitarian Mullahs in the world, but
not with Republicans, maybe he's not
            the problem" - Jon Stewart
"...the isle is full of noises,
Sounds and sweet airs, that give delight and hurt not.
            Sometimes a thousand twangling instruments
Will hum about mine ears, and sometime voices..."

              Oh, for an emoticon ...
It isn't given us to know those rare moments when people are wide open and the lightest touch can wither or heal. A moment too late and we can never reach them any more in this world.

So it looks as though the often mocked EU and its chief international negotiator Baroness Ashton and her team and have brokered a deal at some 'secret talks' that most nations, excepting Israel, can live with.

Iran has struck a deal with six world powers over its nuclear programme, but what exactly has been agreed and how effective will it be in preventing Tehran from developing atomic weapons?

So who will blink first? Barack or Bibi?
