Here we might get 'tired and emotional' - never drunk (not even in the 'Refreshment Room' :oh:)

I have become increasingly sceptical about the poppy culture, even though I feel strongly that the cycle of war should never be forgotten.
All BBC presenters, interviewers, interviewees, etc., are seen onscreen adorned with the said paper flowers, beginning simultaneously on a specified day. Is it a requirement of BBC employees to wear poppies or do they have a choice?

Not sure why we need to be sceptical. It's all part of remembering the sacrifices that others have made (or perhaps, your cycle of war). Also, It's what we do, part of our culture. I'm personally glad that the BBC wear the poppy, as do most other TV presenters and the like.

The Quakers have created a map showing how much of London the Blood Swept Lands and Sea of Red art installation would cover if it represented those from all nations killed in the first world war

We can all be gullible sometimes, but I don't see why I am so being, here.

                I know you don't
but (to go round it again) the way in which this commemoration of WW1 & 2 has been "extended" to include more recent unsavoury (not that any of it is anything but) episodes.

Professional soldiers dying so we can have cheap oil or so politicians can pretend that they are "winning" the ridiculously termed "war on terror" is something else entirely. IMV

Scepticism is healthy and necessary considering how much we are lied to.

Well the things that you mention are marginal issues compared to the whole thing.

I think that people who make the argument that you make are just being narcissistic and attention seeking.

Having a questioning mind is one thing, being sceptical is lazy, IMV.

He'd have worn a poppy, without all the faux-left clucking that the boys and girls go in for, in here.

I don't buy fireworks, either - does that make me a Guy Faux Leftie?
