I didn't want to start a new thread, but it seems relevant: there are at least ten performances of Britten's War Requiem in Britain over these few days, and yet I can't find a broadcast on the BBC. For that, I have to go to Classic FM on Tuesday. Surprising!

I only hope the people who listen, live or on the radio, understand what he is getting at. I suspect some don't.

I heard an interview with the designer on R4 yesterday who was talking about how it was always intended to be temporary.
I made the mistake of turning the TV on last night to see the hideous Albert Hall fest with the whole "all soldiers are heroes" narrative firmly in place.

The fact that there have been no new postings on this thread for more than 24 hours is an indication of 'how important' this is in the perception of these R3 messageboarders. Oh dear oh dear....

If you take a look at the start of the thread you'll see that the first post was in October 2011; it lapsed after the 11th November, & has then restarted (I assume; I haven't looked at all the posts) each year after that. I'm sure that it will be resurrected next year.
Meanwhile, there have been comments today (albeit of a different nature) on the Rememberance Sunday thread.
