    IPCC not to investigate police behaviour at Orgreave

    The decision by the misnamed Independent Police complaints Commission not to investigate the police riot at Orgreave in 1984 and associated tactics of subversion must surely go down as finally giving the lie to claims at the time in the gutter press that "our boys in blue" were merely acting to uphold the law: claims indeed that were convincingly portrayed as undermined by thiose same forces of law & order in the film "Billy Elliot".

    Fading memories born of the distance of time have not disssuaded investigations into WWII war crimes.

    ...or indeed the more recent Hillsborough disaster or a variety of past abuse cases; this does indeed seem uncomfortably akin to selective decision making...
