Yet again the UK's productivity has been compared with "productivity" in other parts of the world, and seen to be lower, but what exactly does that mean? Do we make less "stuff" in a given time, do we manage to provide less or fewer services in a given time, or what ....?
Does it matter anyway? If it's "stuff" - then is that needed?
Regarding services, are we comparing like for like, and is quality important?
Also, are the areas where productivity is seen to be low really that important?
