I have it on good authority that it can sometimes take quite a lot more than just two (see http://www.david-matthews.co.uk/work...13&submit.y=10) although sometimes it can (see http://www.david-matthews.co.uk/work...24&submit.y=11) - and these aren't his only ones (see, for example, his Symphony No. 4 and String Quartet No. 12).

Somehow I cannot quite see David Matthews dancing a tango on the dreadful Strictly Dumb Prancing with the ever so slightly older Martha Argerich, but it might be an intriguing prospect nonetheless...

...any old irony, as in? (and pretty rusty at that)...

            The offer was rebuffed.

            Says it all, really.
The honourable member's memory has omitted certain important details that cast the story in quite a different light. I'm sure he will contact me by PM for clarification before submitting a heartfelt apology.

              Let's try again

Members will be all to aware of friction between certain parties and insults and snide comments hurled by all concerned (and I hold up my hand as one of the guilty parties). Many, many moons ago I contacted the three main protagonists by PM with an offer to mutually refrain from these type of attacks. Nothin. Eventually as we all know, the Politics and Current Affairs thread was moved elsewhere out of the main focus.

So why am I posting here? Well, in this Season of Goodwill, I am suggesting to the three of you....Flosshilde, MrGongGong and Amateur51...that we agree to draw a line/water under the bridge/whatever and to refrain for here on from making sarky, snide, little 'witty' comments about or at each other and about others such as P G Tipps/SimonB etc. I also offer the three of you my sincere apologies for any of my past posts that may have offended you (or anyone else for that matter).

What do you think? Are you willing to let bygones be bygones and to refrain as I have suggested ?

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to all.

As I understand it, such remarks are against House Rules.

I really have no idea at all what you are referring to?

Likewise. Perhaps you could forward the message you say you sent?

As I said in response to your similar post on the 'Politics' bit, you could try unilateral disarmament if your overtures of peace are ignored.

But you can hardly expect people not to respond to your posts if they disagree with them, assuming that they are part of a general discussion.

(Has anyone made "sarky, snide, little 'witty' comments about or at each other and about others such as ... SimonB "? He always seems a good egg to me, with interesting commens about life at Covent Garden.)

Maybe he/she is using the old prof Says "Stockhausen" method?

Here's one fairly regular member who has no idea what this is all about. I have never noticed disagreements between members - perhaps I'm just not observant.

This kind of thing is better sorted out by PMs. If posts are offensive, they shoo;d be reported. by clicking on the triangle.

Is this a Christmas mystery I wonder?

No - you just don't hang around in the right places :winkeye:

I've no idea what Rissy is on about when he talks about having sent a PM to me, but my view is exactly the same as Alpie's - if he does have a problem with any specific individuals it would be better talking to those individuals in private.
