Oh, I do wish I was that talented, Mr GongGong ...

Just do some practice, then! You might be surprised at the outcome. We'll try not to miss your frequent contributions the while but I'm sure that you will find it as rewarding as MrGG suggests...

The lessons of human history weighed very heavily against heavier-than-air flight until 1903.

No, in fact we need neither.

Far too late for that, alas ....

However, ahinton, I have to say that your vastly more frequent contributions are an utter joy to behold and, indeed, a huge consolation for me in my wretched and talentless state ... :OK:

I'd no idea that you were of that vintage but, in any case, that didn't stop Elliott Carter, did it?

But as Mr Carter was not a student at Warwick, we should perhaps have yet another try to get back on-topic...

I would have thought the skills capacities you manifest in discussions of this kind would be eminently transferrable to other activies...

Ahinton, I know you are desperate to get back on topic, but, as you mentioned string players, is it really true you composed a work for string quintet that lasts for nearly THREE hours ....?

I am not personally desperate to get back on topic although I think that it would be good if the thread topic were indeed re-established for subsequent discussion in this thread.

It was MrGG who initially mentioned string players in this thread but, since you ask, the answer to your question is yes - well, it's about ten minutes short of that, actually, so "nearly" is correct; it has never yet been performed in front of an audience of militant students at Warwick, though....

Crikey ... that's quite remarkable ... though, on a point of order, I think it was you who first mentioned 'string players' on this thread whereas MrGongGong merely referred to a Mozart String Quartet.

Still, I don't wish to appear too pedantic, ahinton ...

G*** certainly does get in the way. Hence the necessity to keep making the point. Neither MrGG nor I "bleat". We merely state our opinion of the aforementioned politician's inadequacy.
