Public sector greed and lack of concern for the public its supposed to serve

They've been screwing us over on parking in our local towns and high streets, NHS hospitals, etc and now it's litter!

Would be nicer if they could apply it consistently, or even demonstrat that where we live is cleaner because of these stormtroopers - it doesn't even work!

    What a lovely ethos.............

    Rubbish!

Are you referring to the sector of workers so villified by our extremist government, or to the elected politicians (often of the Right) who levy charges like the ones you mention?

I think you're overdoing it a bit. You've got to try to get over it.

Somewhere off High Street Kensington, a firm of reputational lawyers receives a phone call from a red-faced man who has just opened a file called Barrett, R

                  Such comparisons are odious.

So what would you say was a reasonable amount of litter to drop before you got fined?

None. But applied consistently. Now go to bed.

Once a parent, always a parent.

                        Poor kids.

What was inconsistent about this particular example?

People walk out of a shop, rip the cellophane, wrapping, whatever off their cigarettes, sweets, ice cream and just chuck it on the floor. Some parts of London are a disgrace.

No point in fining a person here, a person there. Needs to be applied consistently, or not applied at all. Simple principle of fairness.

Whilst I share your views about litter, thee's absolutely no way that consistency of approach to it as an offence could possibly be applied, if for no better reasons than that only a minute faction of the culprits could ever be caught and the cost to the taxpayer of charging, trying and fining even a small fraction of them would constitite an absurdly disproportionate burden upon both the taxpayer and the police / court time occupied by it.
