If you are going to be snobbish, you ( or one) might as well be elitist at the same time.

Prolly saves time and expense too.

I once tried to be elitist and snobbish, but I couldn't bring it off.

So I tried to be snobbish without being elitist, and apparently that's not even possible.

Being just elitist in my case was never going to work - so I just leave it all to others!

            gotta love division of labour.

can one be inverted elitist, as one can apparently be an inverted snob?

I feel guilty for taking Jazzers thread further off topic now. :(

              Don't worry, there'll be other threads, he won't notice - he's a serial threadstarter ;-)

Given the choice would you prefer to be treated as an intelligent human being with rational views about affairs of state or as an imbecile who's going to lap up a salacious story that promises to combine sex, Muslims, the "war on terror", immigration and no doubt more sex? This is why the Mail comes in for criticism in these parts. Whichever way you look at it, knowledge is not equivalent to ignorance.
                  Update to post #48

I don't know what the Guardian or Daily Mail are leading with, but the BBC News website reports that....

Two Libyan cadets are accused of raping a man and will appear at Cambridge Crown Court next week.

Of the five cadets accused of the sex assaults, two have admitted offences against women and are due to be sentenced and two have admitted the offences and are await sentencing. The third has not yet entered a plea.

Seems that their training has been terminated and they are being returned to Libya.

Last night on the BBC TV news, one of the Libyan soldiers, a spokesperson, said that it was 'all the fault of the British' - 'they didn't tell us what we could and couldn't do, they didn't tell us what's right and what's wrong'.

                  FFS!!!

IMV, it's probably best they go back.

Indeed - but I'm rather struggling to figure out what that's got to do with the price of fish or even the value of NHS...

Partial reporting BO - poor show.

Ask RB, he posted about it, I replied and posted an update.

As MrGG often points out, my internet allows me to find things like that out fairly easily so what's wrong with yours?

My post was concerned with the way in which the front-page headline of a newspaper gives some clue as to its priorities and whether it's going to take the issues of the day seriously and proportionately, in response to PGT asserting that his calling the Guardian the "Forum Bible" is somehow comparable to others referring to the Torygraph or the Daily Wail.

So, today I see that the Guardian leads with REVEALED: TAX DEALS SAVING FIRMS MILLIONS and the Mail with MUMS-TO-BE WHO DRINK MAY BE BRANDED CRIMINALS. Note the "may" in the latter which presumably means "almost certainly won't".

But that doesn't answer ahinton's point at all (fish prices or the value of the NHS).

You may possibly be confusing me with someone who's interested in answering his point, whatever it is.

Whether or not that may be the case (and I have no idea), I was not making a point in the first place but merely asking M Leboeuf what his recent posts had to do with (the price of fish or) the thread topic.
