Will someone please have the great good sense to press the buzzer and challenge with "Repetition!"?...

I'm sure that FF will be delighted to read your assertion as to the extent of moderation on this board but - like many others here, I imagine - she will doubtless also note the lack of "moderation" in certain of your posts.

In your profile here, I note that
Risorgimento has not made any friends yet
I must confess that I'd find it inordinately difficult to feign surprise at this discovery...

Things don't appear to be getting better, and much more needs to be done I think to stop this disease getting out of hand.

This really does look like a serious issue, and even if it is contained this time, there could be another outbreak any time which would spread wide and far.
The Disaster Emergency Committee is asking for donations for aid, and I think in the UK the government will match donations. http://www.dec.org.uk/?utm_source=Go...FSXKtAodrBgApg

Ebola is still not under control, and this article suggests it's like suggesting your pet tiger is only naughty sometimes - http://www.aljazeera.com/news/africa...559635367.html

The UK Government is matching donations to the DEC 1 for 1 up to £5 million. A day or so back £4 million had been donated, so the total to be given to DEC was £8 million.

I'm guessing that £10 million will be donated soon, though will that be enough to keep this under control? Arguably things are getting better, but let's remember that just before the episode started there were 0 reported cases, and now we have thousands. It's not over until it's over - and even then there'll be a need to keep on top of things in case of a future outbreak. Maybe a vaccine will help - though perhaps such a vaccine might actually enable the virus to adapt in ways which won't be desirable for us all. The first priority has to be to get this outbreak under control.

Now some of the countries which are struggling to contain and get on top of ebola may be about to find their resources stretched further by lassa fever - http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-africa-29868394

It also seems that aid from the 1st world is still taking time to get through. I don't know what the latest update is on the funds raised in the UK.

Usually tragic circumstances of this kind invite charity collections outside supermarkets; I haven't yet seen any around here yet - don't know why.

Currently around £12 million has been raised from UK donors - http://www.dec.org.uk/appeals/ebola-...million-raised

Here is list of historical ebola outbreaks - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Ebola_outbreaks

So far the current outbreak(s) have been the most damaging and are still not under control.
