        well quite.

sadly, when I was at school, the Norman conquest and feudalism were portrayed as rather a good thing, all those lovely castles and defensive fortifications that you can visit even today.
Feudalism? nice and tidy, lovely straight furrows...blah blah blah....still, they earned it, right?

            Absolutely

Positive thinking and a "get up and go" attitude are what made this country GREAT.

& others are descended from the king's mistresses. There was a whole slew of Dukes created during Charles the Second's reign.

It's something to be proud of, if the misogynistic language is directed at someone you don't like, is what I think this means.

I'd rather see some more posts on the state of the parties in the run-up to May next year than pernickety "discussions" of "misogynistic language" and the contexts in which it may or may not be deemed appropriate.

I do think that certain recent prounouncements by Tories look likely to reduce the party's chances of electability and, if that does indeed turn out to be the case, I cannot quite see Labour as a beneficiary of any consequent shifts in voter loyalty, so it might well lead to yet more evenness in support for those parties who anticipate fielding candidates in most or all constituencies and this in turn would likely increase the difficulty of any two or even three parties being able to form a majority coalition.

You may of course think what you wish.

The term witch can be used to describe persons of either sex, so, by definition, describing Mrs Thatcher as one is not being misogynistic.

No. Calling a woman a witch is misogynist, sexist etc, and people should not talk about any women like that.

That may well be true but, according to my dictionary, a 'witch' is 'commonly portrayed as a wicked old woman', so I feel confident jean will vehemently disagree with you on that?

However, on what the official and mandatory PC view is on the matter I am rather less confident, S_A ...
