I think I'm permitted to reveal under the Data Protection Act that you're NOT Simon either ...
It isn't given us to know those rare moments when people are wide open and the lightest touch can wither or heal. A moment too late and we can never reach them any more in this world.

And your point is what exactly ?

This is very true although not everyone is tarred by the same brush. It's why some people read the Daily Mail and others The Guardian. I read neither. I loathe the former for its emotive simplistic rhetoric. And I loathe the Guardian for its emotive simplistic rhetoric.
Do you run courses in how to be so morally superior ?

Oh come on, now. A man of your rapier-like intellect? I'm sure I don't need to spell it out to you.

Ah, I see you are still in sneer-mode. Never mind. I'll not bother to respond to you on this topic again as otherwise you will ultimately throw your teddy out of the pram and tell me to F*** Off, as you must admit, you do have form in this regard. Ta ta for now.

My point IS that trotting out "received wisdom" about how "multiculturalism hasn't worked" without even giving any reasons or evidence is not really a good way to conduct a discussion.
Then deciding that everyone else apart from oneself and a few chosen is somehow "tarred" with the brush of ignorance (or whatever) is....... (not difficult to work out )

(is he mr Pee ? )

and to be accurate I never told anyone to F off
I think you will find that I made the comment that if I was a youngster I would tell them to "f RIGHT off" a subtle but important difference ;-)

But the relevant quote from you that was being responded to directly was "I'm Simon
can't you tell from the gown and jackboots ? " I understood that the question was what point you were making with that remark?

(is he mr Pee ? )
In case your intention is to go through the entire list of absentees in the hope that I shall eventually refuse to reply, thus effectively saying 'Yes', I give notice that this is the last comment I make on identities. You are very wide of the mark.

                        .
I was making the point that I wasn't taking myself seriously at all
It was a joke aimed at AM who loves a bit of banter about these things

I wasn't intending to go through the long list of crazies who have given you sleepless nights in the past (which includes me I guess ;-) )

                        No problem
It's not that important anyway, it's only a load of old folks rambling on the internet

                          ref Farage see Panorama tonight?

i hope the personal abuse is enjoyable when you write it .... it is quite beside the issue of the thread which is how the Westminster pols have lost the plot with the popular narrative about immigration

the demonisation of the EU [admittedly an imperfect institution] loses the social cultural and political benefits that might and ought to be obtained by such a grouping in terms of adapting to climate change, non-growth based economics, social justice across the globe &c it would be a bleak and dispiriting future for us outside the EU .... and unless we grasp teh work that must be addressed it will be a pretty bleak future inside it too ...

                          as Churchill said of democracy

“It has been said that democracy is the worst form of government except all the others that have been tried.”
The best argument against democracy is a five-minute conversation with the average voter.
                          ditto the EU
According to the best estimates of astronomers there are at least one hundred billion galaxies in the observable universe.

Rubbish. Put in a complaint to the Information Commissioner. I have said nothing at all about MrGG (did you mean him?), nor have I said anything about Simon. Nor, if you meant any other member posting here, have I revealed any data which they have supplied to the forum admin for forum purposes.

I was not even remotely serious!

Having re-read my post, you could not have read it any other way than you did - it looks as if I was being quite formal.

The joke, as it was meant, has back-fired on me.

                              Mea culpa.
