Yes, I wonder what exactly is supposed to have been "admirable" about her until this week?

Will Dave now revert to "playing safe" by replacing the admirable lady with yet another quite astonishingly unattractive and ever-obedient male dullard ... ?
      ''Lovely'' ???!!!

      "Highly intelligent" ???!!!

        Oh yes, 'homophobia' ...

So if the admirable Baroness is automatically termed 'fiercely homophobic' for merely upholding her views on the institution of marriage then that must make one a racist and sexist misogynist by merely disagreeing with her?

        Seems fair ...

Was it a wise opinion for her to express while being an Equalities Minister? - I know irony isn't your strong suit but even you can appreciate that surely?!

Career-wise for the Baroness, you are absolutely correct, though there are those who might be somewhat more impressed with a Minister's principle and honesty rather than career-progression. One doesn't have to accept Dave's or Nick's idea of "equality" anymore than that of Baroness Warsi who, as a daughter of Pakistani immigrants, probably has had a great deal more personal experience regarding genuine discrimination than either you or I, or indeed the aforementioned two former English public-school boys!

As for 'irony', I'd have thought you might have encountered a little bit of that in my last post. Or did you prefer to cover your eyes because the irony contained within proved just a little bit too much to bear? :))

As a gay man born in Wales 1951 and moving to London in 1971, and disabled since birth (and left-handed to boot!) I assure you that I have plenty to offer Bnss Warsi in a discussion on discrimination. She took on a job specifically about Equalities and she came out with her negative opinions about equal marriage in a government promoting it. I'd have been more impressed had she resigned then on a matter of principle (I'd have been even more impressed if Pickles has disciplined her!)

Rethinking my post I find that my accusation of 'homophobia' was a little wide of the mark; whereas 'heterosexism' would have hit the target nicely.

I thought your post was the usual bargain basement attempt at humour but I'll take another look if you insist.

Yes indeed - those pesky Palestinians making a right nuisance of themselves by standing there and, by being mutilated and dying, obstructing all those Israeli shells and missiles intended for Hamas!

Avaaz are raising a petition to the PM calling for an end to the UK exporting armaments. Hopefully this is not transgressing any rules, but fwiw here it is:

In some quarters it's "transgressive" to suggest that bombing hospitals and schools isn't such a good idea :-(

                            Thanks for this link

Ah well, it would appear, given the gullibility and ostrich-like tendencies of most posters here that Hamas have won the propaganda war.

well I imagine they are pleased about that.

because they sure aren't going to win the real war with real arms, against a nuclear state with 75 warheads, and the capacity to bomb what they want, when they want.

                                stats from the BBC.

                                Palestinian deaths.
1,922 killed, including at least 1,407 civilians
                                448 children
                                235 women

                                Israeli deaths

                                64 soldiers
                                2 civilians
