EU tax regs I'm afraid. Treating Europe as a single market. Based in Europe, pay tax in Europe. Britain's in Europe, they've paid tax in Europe. They also pay local taxes like VAT.

Amazon have several HQs throughout the world, USA, Canada, Europe etc. And they pay corporation tax in USA, Canada, Europe etc.

Talk to your LibDem MEP and see if he/she can do something about these EU laws. Maybe we can reform them? Cherry pick the ones we like and ask to be excluded from the ones we don't.

There really isn't a direct correlation between membership of the EU and wealth.
Greece and Switzerland spring to mind.
Trade and commercial arrangements happen because it is apparently beneficial to both parties.and sometimes this happens in the way that it does because markets are rigged.
