Nicolas Anelka has been sacked for ventilating his frustrations with his club in a heat of the moment tweet. His club seem very angry that he said he'd decided to leave the club with immediate effect, outside of any 'legal process'. I suppose it's up to them to take their own view on how serious his actions are, and respond accordingly.
But, it seems, they weren't going to sack him for his antisemitic 'quenelle' gesture. Just a fine, an apology etc. Are the rules of conduct topsy-turvy, or the application of them? Or is it something else?
