Surely writing a lie on a poster (75% of UK laws are MADE in Brussels) is likely to end you up in court ?

(A House of Commons Library study showed this to be wrong: “6.8% of primary legislation (Statutes) and 14.1% of secondary legislation” implements EU regulation.)

I guess if Boots are allowed to sell sugar pills in bottles with a label that has a name of something that isn't in the bottle then anything is possible.

My tap water sold as whisky business is going to make me rich I tell ye
Get the label design right and old Bill Tong will have yer arm off for certain once he's off the wagon this Summer. ;D

But more than a little worrying that their hideous views seem to be commonplace these days

Don't worry overmuch about kippers; Scotland may well soon be independent of the so-called United Kingdom (not that I necessarily think that this will be a good thing in the present climate)...

Without EU protection we might have a REAL kipper crisis (so the fishmongers of Arbroath tell me)

this obsession with nige's ragbag army is all distraction.
The real problems are in a lopsided economy, run by the big banks, big government, and serving big interests.

Check out who benefits from QE, for instance. What a surprise, its the wealthy and corporations.

QE. Already popular in the US and UK, Coming to the Eurozone soon, if the big boys have anything to do with it.
Meanwhile , those at the bottom of the food chain are left to squabble about straight bananas.

(Oh, and things like QE damage the developing world economies too.....)
I will not be pushed, filed, stamped, indexed, briefed, debriefed or numbered. My life is my own.

Well, yes, of course - but any alternative will likewise benefit the wealthy and the big corporations because they will ensure that it does so; the rule of thumb that prescribes that if you're wealthy and don't like your country's taxation régime you move your assets and income elsewhere and if you're really really wealthy and you don't like your country's taxation régime you set up an offshore private equity firm to buy the country either applies or is about to do so...

or , governments could be brave, run the country for the people, and tell the big corporations how it will be if they want to do business here.
                            Iceland seems to be coping.

The wealthy and powerful ALWAYS tell us how much we need them, but in fact they need more. They have more to lose and further to fall.

That would, of course, depend on a number of factors including the strength of the governments (of which the current UK coalition one is hardly a good example) and on the extent to which the electorate votes them in (i.e. turnout figures), as well as their competence and the extent to which they'll have their hands tied by the wealthy and big corporations whatever they might otherwise want to achieve.

Sometimes - not ALWAYS! That kind of sentiment wears thin these days. They're accordingly far more likely to just shut up and get on with what they're determined to do.

But they take the rest of us down with them when they do - "too big to fail" and all that...

There are other ways for divining what and how much needs to be maintained, recycled and manufactured in order to reproduce a society in which everyone's basic needs are in the first place met, other than going on bended knee with begging bowl before the banks and having reiterated the self-contradictory platitudes we've been re-told countless times. Schumacher suggested some alternatives in his book "Small is Beautiful", (which I lent and never got back), 40 years ago. It's as though just in reward for having the monopoly of money and power we ascribe them superior knowledge and wisdom. Science can deliver options for procreation and consumption part-based on predictive climatology, partly on anthropology, partly demography and basic accountancy; the problem is that few people are thinking along those lines, or attempting to formulate political and legal structures which would protect individual liberties in such a system while at the same time preventing or circumventing speculation.

Now, if we could get some hackers on side...
