Yes, I did get my kit off....rarely more than 50 people on that half mile of beach (still a mile and a half to left for normal family punters ....I used to camp down there, catch mackerel, cook it Ray Mears styleee, write, sketch, read....My favourite photo of me (ego ridden sap that I am)[aged 29] is me bleached blonde hair, beach bums beard, staring out into the bay with that constant companion to my life; Sweet Virginia, clamped in an embrace, her vapour spiraling into the ether, her deadly toxins making each moment a locus of profundity....Ah she is here now ....killing me softly with her love, telling my whole life with her words....another landscape is now viewed with the same eyes, the same heart (modified) pumps, the same man is in that bay everyday, using it's power, using that beach solitude I taught myself then.....

"...the isle is full of noises,
Sounds and sweet airs, that give delight and hurt not.
      Sometimes a thousand twangling instruments
Will hum about mine ears, and sometime voices..."

Take no notice 8obs, I was entranced by your description of the beach and of your sweet mistress, Virginia.
Could you change your avatar to that of the 29 year old sun bleached beach bum?

Might I suggest Morar on the west coast of Scotland? Bax used to go there to compose. Lovely white sand (and some good shells too!)
                            Best regards,

From my long experience of lovely Cornish beaches and coves, the answer invariably lies in acquiring an OS 1:25000 map of the area and studying it with curiosity, and a degree of chutzpah in the matter of navigating narrow lanes, sometimes with grass growing in the middle, to get to them. But I'm not naming any of them. Get your own OS map, I say.

But for an accessible south coast beach I've recently enjoyed the one at Highcliffe near Christchurch. There's parking nearby, and a decent cafe surrounded by a nice park. The sandy beach has lovely views across to the Isle of Wight, and down the other way to the Isle of Purbeck.
