    Beautiful quiet British beaches

Not really a beach person, although I love the sea, being from God's own city.
However we were captivated, and spent a lot of time on the beaches around Cardigan Bay and to the north a couple of years ago.

Professionals do these things better than I do, so here are a few proper photos.
Holiday accommodation is very reasonably priced in the area too.

Any other out of the way seaside spots that folk can recommend?

the geordie shore teamsaint; the Northumberland coast is stunning and freeezing most of the year ....
According to the best estimates of astronomers there are at least one hundred billion galaxies in the observable universe.

??? - You can get sea views in LEEDS???

However we were captivated, and spent a lot of time on the beaches around Cardigan Bay and to the north a couple of years ago.
Coincidentally, when I read the Thread title on the "What's New" page, my first thought was that glorious coastline from Fishguard to Aberystwyth (which, had things been different ... ). Aberarth has a tiny stretch of coastline/beach which, because it's so small, tends to get ignored (I flew a kite there three years ago: a passer-by asked "Second childhood?" to which I replied "No; making up for the first", after which she left us alone. Lovely beach (but go in May or September when it's quieter but still warm) at Newport, about five miles from Fishguard on the way to Cardigan (huge beach, sparkling sea and practically no one there).

Llansteffan in South Wales is also quietly gorgeous - but the last time I was there, the experience was somewhat marred by a beachful of dead Jellyfish. Never experienced this before.

And on the Llyn Peninsula, Aberdaron, which must have the most beautiful view of any Church and graveyard in the world (RS Thomas had his last "vicarship" [????] here. Again, May or September to avoid the pilgrims going to Bardsey Island as part of the Summer holiday - but even in High Season, there's plenty of space.

Wells of nostalgia, here, so I'd better stop.

Further North of the OP lies Morfa Bychan (aka Black Rock sands) what appears to be mile after mile of golden sands. It's so large that even the close proximity of a caravan park does not mean that it ever gets really crowded.

i should mention that my childhood visits there ended in the late 1960s so it may well be changed a lot

I wouldn't dream of telling everyone where my favourite quiet beaches are! I could say they are mostly in East Anglia.

I remember going to Shipload Bay. It's quite remote up near Hartland Point. You have to walk a bit and use some steep steps to get to it. We went there a couple of times with our children during one holiday and they loved it - a real smugglers' cove and good for swimming. [I've just noticed via that link that is now inaccessible because the steps have collapsed, so this suggestion is of limited value]

Oh, yes: Amble, Bamburgh sands, Seahouses (a bit busy in the High Season) - and the beach at the far side of Lindisfarne.

That's the naturist beach isn't it? Friend of mine chanced upon it some years ago with his young family. I've had some happy beach holidays in Devon, and Cornwall of course you cannot beat for the blue of the sea no matter what the weather.
Most of my favourites have been mentioned, Cardigan Bay, Llyn Penisular and The Gower has some delights to offer as well. Northumberland - I love the coastline there, Bamburgh in November is so romantic.

"...the isle is full of noises,
Sounds and sweet airs, that give delight and hurt not.
                      Sometimes a thousand twangling instruments
Will hum about mine ears, and sometime voices..."

You can hardly call the Manchester Ship Canal the sea.

But Filey beach takes some beating, surrounded as it is by Filey Brigg and Flamborough Head.

nnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnever really fancied it as I burn too easily, however, swimming naked in the sea is absolutely wonderful. I last did that at Porth Neigwl, Llyn Peninsular. It was a warm day and, there's always a heavy swell there, it was bracing to say the least! (No-one was about so I preserved my modesty) I was staying just above Criccieth, I have very happy memories of Llyn, in fact I don't think you can beat a British beach holiday, whether it's candyfloss and ice creams or just pottering around in rock pools, or collecting nice pebbles.
