    Northern Forest

    Northern Forest:

'Ribbon of woodland' will be planted, but critics say other projects are destroying ancient forests.

So, Trump builds a wall to keep out his "non-desirables", Gove builds a forest!

Makes you proud to be British.

        Cynics.

History shows there is a link between forests and higher standards of entertainment.

Billy Merson, the great Nottingham-born music hall performer, here presents one of his signature numbers while looking not unlike Frankie Howerd in 'Up Pompe...

Which presumably Trump would describe as "trees on".

            - on reflection, I wonder if the Government will sell this as the PM's "Green" concerns: "Trees Are May"?

(I'm also wondering how Lats got hold of my Home Movies!)

The description of the project from the Woodland Trust suggests that the forest will be less of a green ribbon and more of a sparsely-threaded doily.
Don't think the journalist is too impressed....
The whole thing is the usual smoke and mirrors, trying to divert attention from failings in protecting existing woodland(HS2 being a pretty bad example) and lack of action to deal with loss through disease(ash wilt is going to have a major landscape impact)

Has anybody who is quick to pour lefty scorn investigated whether or not this will make a positive impact for the better on the environment - in particular flooding in the Calder (Happy) Valley? If they do and come up with the answer that it will not, I am behind you 100% comrades!

....gosh they dare not do that lest it gets flooded by lefy scorn....

....section of local news had a self help /community project, creating dams, and clearing dams and cleaning dams....many people wanting beavers introduced - forgetting they normally flourish in slow moving flat rivers....
