A Dorset village not far from where I live seems to keep some of its 'Under the Greenwood Tree' feeling. It's called Stoke Abbott, and in the village hall is a glass case with a few artefacts and old photos. The wooden flute is of a similar vintage to those played in the Gallery Choirs that Hardy knew well and upon which he based his Mellstock Choir.
