Access to Heathrow.

Given that it is the UKs biggest airport, it isn't always the easiest to access, and certainly not cheap to park.

I read that there are plans to improve access by rail from the south and west. IIRC space was left for a station at one of the newer terminals.

Anyway, does anybody have any good tips for easy or cheap solutions for access or parking , when travelling from anywhere other than London?

A mate has suggested parking at Westfield, at £6.00 a day if you register, and then tube , which looks a decent shout.

Believe it or not, there is some free, unrestricted lay-by parking within the Heathrow Free Travel zone. I will PM you later.

Surely it depends on how long you're going to be away, and where you come from. Sometimes we book car parking space at airports, perhaps even with a night in a hotel, and sometimes we just use taxis. If you're really mean you can get into LHR by bus, either the coach type - such as Megabus, or even London buses - though that only helps if you can get somewhere cheap and/or convenient to park close to the bus routes.
