Jazz bored regulars should avoid Toronto

"...the isle is full of noises,
Sounds and sweet airs, that give delight and hurt not.
    Sometimes a thousand twangling instruments
Will hum about mine ears, and sometime voices..."

Well agreed. Jazz Players should avoid Toronto. A pity because I believe there is a great deal of interesting music, Jazz and other styles, currently being generated by Canadian musicians.

Thank goodness that didn't apply to Massey Hall in May 1953

One advantage of Classical Music is that they would have to make the headline lettering very much smaller to fit it on one line, so people wouldn't notice it and would go on playing it in the park regardless.
It isn't given us to know those rare moments when people are wide open and the lightest touch can wither or heal. A moment too late and we can never reach them any more in this world.

... can you think of any jazz artist would give a f*ck about notices on boards and walls ... they had to use overdoses of ECT and truncheons to keep Thelonious, Bud and Miles in order .... good job they did not try it on with Mingus with his army rifle and all .... i guess he would have used that notice for target practice ... south of the border it would be peppered with bullet holes in any case ....

however if in Toronto keep the faith

The Mayor of Toronto is (in)famous for smoking crack. The city could really use a P.R. Overhaul

I was looking for something like this

THIS thread was passed on to me by a friend in the U.K. YES I live in Toronto AND we are as EQUALLY FED UP with the mayor. BTW my church I go to St. James Cathedral in Toronto had a jazz mass for the Toronto Jazz Festival in June, THEN in July we had the 26th annual Beaches International Jazz Festival. I have a YouTube channel where some video I shot is posted. My YouTube channel is pmartel11 and STILL working on video from July. Toronto is HUGELY MUSICAL and EXTREMELY multi-cultural and DIVERSE. AND BTW, I'm NOT offended by the post, but curious where the sign came from and just wanted to educate you on the graces of Toronto OTHER than the mayor and the sign

                      Cheers from Hogtown

Welcome back, pmartel. Hope you've been going along fine. Btw THIS notice is just as authentic as the one already posted:

That's an OLD SIGN, we use KM now, but the historical aspect would be fun to put on my F/B page. BTW thanks for the re-welcome. Seriously PLS check out my Youtube channel. This years Beaches Jazz Festival was PACKED SOLID. Such a HUGE variety of music of ALL types. Hope you've had a great summer so far

Oh, BTW the history behind the nickname Hogtown is one of the LARGEST pork producers in Canada. I'm a HUGE history lover of this city
