I've not come across that, but I can imagine it would have intense floral notes cavorting freely above a solid foundation.

Probably was a good deal - now reverted to almost £40.

How do you/we find about lightning deals? Does one have to "camp" on the Amazon site, or is there a way one can be notified?

There've been a few recently which I've only heard about serendipitiously and/or post hoc.

In 2015 there were lots of very good Lightening Deals for interesting malts in the lead up to Christmas but this time there weren't as many and most of the malt deals that there were were not particularly interesting, though I did pick up a bottle of Glemorangie Signet.

Incidentally, I might be wrong but I have the impression that quite a large proportion of the Scotch special prices and deals have been Diageo brands (e.g. Talisker) so perhaps Diageo have part funded them.

Currently £37 - on a deal. About another hour to go.

I'm now trying to see how to spot those Lightning deals on the am.uk site so it's an exercise in user interfaces.

Pretty bleak on CDs today though, and am.uk's notion of "classical music" is laughable. We all knew that though, didn't we?!?

I just bought a bottle of Penderyn single malt, on the assumption it was a Scottish malt I didnt know. Just read the label and discovered it is Welsh. No problem, but I didnt know the Welsh made whisky. Does anyone know it ,or have any views on how it compares with its northern bretheren? I ask because though I am very fond of a glass of malt, I have almost no sense of taste left, and one malt tastes very much like another - which is why I avoid the most expensive.

Easy mistake to make. I once bought a can of Tizer like that.

I’ve never tasted it, but it’s been mentioned on here a few times (Penderyn).

You are joking ? what the **** was somebody thinking of opening it ? Its a litre, about a quarter drunk.

I take it 3/4 litres don't go for £360 ?

If I can't get a taker, I'll bring a flask to the next gig.

One of my favourites - a warm burst on the first swallow, followed by a soothing sensation, with a lovely almond-y flavour. Quite delicious.

Tried an Ileach single malt on New Year's day (always like to try a new whisky on the first day of the New Year). Very pleasant indeed - most quaffable - and very good value for money.

Unlike the Scots, who make I don't know how many different malts, the Welsh make very little whisky but Penderyn well deserves its place as Wales's flagship malt - and I speak as a Scotsman! I do not imagine that you'd be disappointed; I certainly wasn't when I first tried it.
