I've given up abstinence for the night, so am sipping a small glass of Auchentoshan.
I may give up abstinence over the weekend, as well!

Now "testing" a few drops of Highland Black (Aldi) which I'm now liking a bit more than last time I tried it. It appears to have a sort of smoothish caramel like flavour. I still prefer the smokey peaty varieties, but this isn't bad though

Have tried to find a bottle, without success. Got a Black Grouse* on the go here. I do like it !

* (Tesco special £14 a bottle, snapped up 2)
"...the isle is full of noises,
Sounds and sweet airs, that give delight and hurt not.
Sometimes a thousand twangling instruments
Will hum about mine ears, and sometime voices..."

Morrisons has had 1 litre bottles of Teacher's going for £17 for the last week - a good price.

Teacher's has been criticised in the last couple of years for batch inconsistency and a general dip in quality. The distiller seems to have responded and is now using ''more added peated malt'' to the whisky.

Although I'm 2 months into a year off of alcohol (back on June 2016 ), I bought two bottles. I have come to understand that Teacher's is my favourite blended whisky and Ardmore my favourite single malt (an obvious connection).

Let me Scotch that rumour: bog standard teachers took home less than £17 a week when I started - back in the year of revolution.

Yeah - but £17 a week was a fortune in 1848.

I'll quote John Tusa :"1968 was a year without precedent - a Year of Revolutions." [my emphasis]

Only one in that year.

Admittedly, quite a biggy!

Somewhat O/T here. Two fingers of Bushmills 10 year single malt whiskey (though with Scottish spring water).
