That's next term's project sorted out for Bbm - all these small boys bringing whisky bottles in their instrument cases to show Sir that it can be done.

Faced with the choice between £30 for a bottle of Johnnie Walker Black and £17 for a bottle of VAT 69 in an over-priced Turkish resort, parsimony got the better of me.

And what a lovely surprise! Nearly as smooth as JWBL!

On my second bottle (this week - I'm no Oliver Reed!).

I think Caliban pointed out that this brand was behind the bar in Fawlty Towers.

And I'm going to empty my box. Mailbox, of course

No no - click on the little arrows to the right of your name in the VAT69 quote, and you'll be transported back in time to the exchange... I replied with some lame comment involving Jeeves

                  Oh dear!

My excuse is that I was a teenager when Blake Seven, sorry, I mean, Fawlty Towers was broadcast.

I seem not to drink very much whisky from spring to end of summer, but more when the cooler climes of autumn come round. What do other boarders think?

Hi BBM, I tend to drink whisky in the cooler weather, more than in the summer. However, where I am at the moment, it's been between 34 - 39 degrees, but I've found the whisky has been going down a treat!

In the last few weeks it's been JWBL, JW Explorers Edition/spice Road and VAT 69

The local brew is good, too!

That last one is a great example of what Andrew McGregor of CD Review demonstrated as a less egocentric alternative to the 'selfie' - the 'drinkie' !!

If I get drunk enough, I may get egotistical and post a selfie!!

P.S. Lots of reasonably priced gaffs in this neck of the wood, I'll pass your details on to Mrs Oven if you're interested - just imagine having me as a neighbour - you like Hawkwind at 3.00am!

I'd assumed your avatar was a somewhat off-centre stab at a selfie!

Just looked you up on g-maps... very nice. I think I'd have to put a stretch of sea between you and Hawkwind, and me, Ralph, Gabriel and the lads, for acoustic damping purposes

TBF, even Hawkwind don't like Hawkwind at 3 in the morning.

Just as a reference point, how drunk will you need to be before posting a selfie ?

the nearest bottle of wine or quart of ale would do !!

(just having a sneaky mid afternoon grants and dry , as the dinner is mostly prepared !!)

Edit: Further question: what are the criteria for having details passed to Mrs Oven?

Further Edit: you can come home soon, the Proms are almost over......
