Yes, I picked up a bottle yesterday and I might get a second bottle. I was initially confused as it wasn't in the main beers and w/s aisle but in a separate section elsewhere in the store.

Inevitably there will be a limited quantity available so it might be wise to buy early.

I’m tempted, but I’ve just bought 5 bottles of Talisker Storm for £14.25 each that I saw in a Morrisons on Saturday, so I think I need to slow down a bit!

I prefer Talisker Storm and Talisker Skye to Talisker 10 year old. I used to love Talisker, then went right off it. A few drams Storm and Skye last year seems to have returned me to the Talisker fold - almost!

Interesting wildlife in your local supermarket. (Had you had been sampling the produce on the way round?)

Thanks for the Glen Marnoch 28 tip, johnb. Two bottles were hiding in the local Aldi, away from other whiskies and without shelf identification or price. As an inquisitive whisky learner, it's the oldest dram that has passed my lips, or is likely to when we see Berry's offering Mortlach 25 at £595 for 50cl.

So is it the Beast of Dufftown? I couldn't possibly confirm, although the shared ABV is intriguing. A huge sherry nose of old dry oloroso and grapey px, Madeira, brine, liquorice, oak, dark chocolate, coffee and ginger, with a lingering Christmassy afterglow.

It's so moreish, I might have to see whether the other bottle in still on the shelf.

Talisker Storm "with Tin" is £28 a bottle in an Amazon Lightning deal today.

I assume that is a good deal ?

Probably was a good deal - now reverted to almost £40.

How do you/we find about lightning deals? Does one have to "camp" on the Amazon site, or is there a way one can be notified?

There've been a few recently which I've only heard about serendipitiously and/or post hoc.

The ones I bought were in a cardboard box, and I think a better deal - see post #557

I don't know if you can be notified. I spotted the Colin Davis box on an advert flash on my other preferred forum ,, and this one I just spotted in the home page for Lightning deals.
LIghtning deals are on the " Todays Deals" page, and you can then select by category.
Not much decent in music at the moment though.......

                    Good hunting.....

Yeah but these were in a cardboard box AND a tin.

The tin would be useful to store teabags and other stuff.

True. The £14 premium is worth it then. And probably still so at £40.

That’s one of the great things about this forum - really good advice that changes your mind.

                          Buy it...

                          ...but £12 for a tin?

Teabags look after themselves in a box, I've found

I think I was unclear there.
I should have said " Teabags OR other stuff".

Bad call to mix the teabags with elastic bands, or whatever.

When ordering my Christmas malts I was gutted to find that the sublime AnCnoc Rutter has run its course and is no longer available. My attempts to locate an AnCnoc Chilcot to accompany the KCC carols having failed, I settled for the next best thing in Jim Murray's bible, the AnCnoc Cutter. The Cutter lacks the juicy harmonies of the Rutter and is a very different dram, but it's certainly a very fine malt. The peat is much crisper and really quite dry. It's probably the nearest thing to a peated Islay I have yet tasted that isn't actually from Islay, but to be honest I've never tasted anything really quite like it. Sherried it certainly isn't. The Knockdhu distillery turns out some seriously fine whiskies.

Surely AnCnoc Cleobury is the one you should have been looking for...

... but seriously, thanks for this - I will have to look them out.
