Now "testing" a few drops of Highland Black (Aldi) which I'm now liking a bit more than last time I tried it. It appears to have a sort of smoothish caramel like flavour. I still prefer the smokey peaty varieties, but this isn't bad though

"...the isle is full of noises,
Sounds and sweet airs, that give delight and hurt not.
Sometimes a thousand twangling instruments
Will hum about mine ears, and sometime voices..."
Morrisons has had 1 litre bottles of Teacher's going for £17 for the last week - a good price.
Teacher's has been criticised in the last couple of years for batch inconsistency and a general dip in quality. The distiller seems to have responded and is now using ''more added peated malt'' to the whisky.
Although I'm 2 months into a year off of alcohol (back on June 2016 ), I bought two bottles. I have come to understand that Teacher's is my favourite blended whisky and Ardmore my favourite single malt (an obvious connection).
I'll quote John Tusa :"1968 was a year without precedent - a Year of Revolutions." [my emphasis]
We Southerners have shorter memories than you Borderers.
