Oh sorry, it seems only good for that monstrous regiment of women as it helps with hormones and libidos ....

I don't think I've ever seen venison liver for sale - but I don't buy/cook liver, it's one of those things where I like the flavour (as in liver pate) but dislike the texture so it has to be sliced thin and well covered with a thickish gravy/sauce. Overall I'm not awfully fond of offal!

Here it's slow-cooked half shoulder of lamb, sat on a bed of sliced shallots, potatoes, rosemary and garlic, just bung it in the oven and forget about it. Yesterday was fish fingers But they were really good, Waitrose chunky line court breaded haddock, really big and meaty, lovely crunchy coating, I was most surprised at how nice they were just served with new pots and peas.

Well the time before when I tried fish fingers they were miserable flabby skinny ones (not much thicker than a Rizla) from Captain Birdseye and I vowed never again .... These Waitrose ones have converted me, fish fingers for grown ups!

                    I didn't know a fish HAD fingers.....

Being bravely optimistic, and going for avocado salad tonight, Der Rosenkavalier ( Karajan and a sprinking of Schwartzkopf) and some Soave to go with.

I like fish fingers too, Anna, specially in a sandwich with mayo. Yum.

... slow cooked shoulder of lamb here too tonite - but done to a Persian recipe - you drizzle olive oil on to the lamb, and then cover it with a spice mix - sumac, dried rose petals, cumin, cinnamon, dried lime powder - then "bung it in to the oven and forget about it". Scrumptious.

Too busy. Back to Greco-Turkish caff round the corner for lunch: spanokopita, followed by salmon w. roasted veg, potato fritters and tomato & caper sauce. No, I didn't have any halloumi . £10
It isn't given us to know those rare moments when people are wide open and the lightest touch can wither or heal. A moment too late and we can never reach them any more in this world.

Baking some lamb chops. Will serve with couscous and shepherd's salad.

Drinking Raki, listening to Tippett's Child Of Our Time, BBCSO, Janet Baker, Jessye Norman et al,conducted by Colin Davis, Decca. Reminds me of the Prom opener a few years back.
