    Yup. that is it.
    That's Winchester for you.

a bit annoying when the store is busy, but it's good that these things are encouraged.

ah, so north of the river then.
Three Waitroses in an area. Monopoly capitalist partnerships eh !

That's two more than in the whole of Cornwall - and that's 60 miles away!

It's only been since the recession. In a strategy that, to me, seems counter-intuitive, they bought up three locations since early 2009 - first a large ex-Woolworths, then a down-at-heel branch of Budgens and most recently the petrol station shop which had been a common-or-garden Shell shop selling Ginsters' pasties and de-icer (a delicious combination).
"...the isle is full of noises,
Sounds and sweet airs, that give delight and hurt not.
          Sometimes a thousand twangling instruments
Will hum about mine ears, and sometime voices..."

To return to hummus.......cooking a kilo of chick peas in a pressure cooker till soft works well and does not take long. A vast improvement upon the tinned ones. Freeze for future use in batches.

Hummus - chick peas, lots of garlic, a big splodge of tahini, chives if liked, olive oil, all wizzed in Magimix till required texture. Served with pitta or ciabatta....yum.
