There is a small new Waitrose on the outskirts of Winchester that appears to allow all social groups access.
There is a chippy opposite too.

I have a bit of an "In" on the buying side at Waitrose, so who knows, Rodney........

there are surprisingly frequent occasions on this board where I wish I could draw a Venn diagram.
          This is one such.

Perhaps Gongers is including harpoonists, and harpies .

and will do a survey (though at least 4 of them have Volvo's)

actually, went past today, and I see they have opened up a Lidl right next door, so perhaps they will tighten up, now that the locals have a cheap option.

I used to go to Beckenham. disastrously inaccessible from almost anywhere, as far as I could tell.

please can you do a venn diagram? it would be educationally useful.

There are three Waitroses near me and that's true of all of them. One is attached to my local Shell petrol station and it's open 24 hours a day, so they get all sorts in there. None has a carpark so Volvos or anything else are rather beside the point. All makes of car stop at the Shell one, which gets a lot of custom from black-cab drivers at night
"...the isle is full of noises,
Sounds and sweet airs, that give delight and hurt not.
                        Sometimes a thousand twangling instruments
Will hum about mine ears, and sometime voices..."

Waitrose was, of course, the symbol of the House of York.

Ah ... by 'social groups' I was thinking of record societies, film clubs or reading circles. So they would turn up at Waitrose in little groups chatting together Thought it was a bit odd.
It isn't given us to know those rare moments when people are wide open and the lightest touch can wither or heal. A moment too late and we can never reach them any more in this world.
