    Ottolenghi's Mediterranean Feast

    New series just starting on Channel 4 for fans of Mr O



    Episode 1 just started, to make one forget the bloody Winter weather:

    Yotam's journey starts in Morocco's most vibrant city, Marrakech, where he discovers the secrets of the tagine and explores the delicious street food.

    Yotam creates a succession of stunning recipes from the rooftop kitchen of his beautiful Riad: a barbecued leg of lamb with almonds and orange blossom sauce; herb infused cous cous with grilled cherry tomatoes; and sweet pastry 'cigars' with an almond and cinnamon filling.

    Yotam leaves Marrakech to visit the Atlas Mountains, where he meets and eats with the Berbers and learns their age-old method of making couscous.

    Yotam grills some beautifully fresh fish with a Moroccan twist, sea bass marinaded in chermoula and served with an herb and raisin salsa.

    I think our friends over on the world music forum ought to provide us with a nice play list to go with this.

    All sounds yummy.

        I always think of Ottolenghi as vegetarian cook after all his Guardian columns and considering his books . Plenty is fab .Indeed I am inspired to go and look something up for tomorrow's dinner .

          I've just realised that - contrary to the listing I saw which said 'new series' - this is in fact the series which was previously aired on "More 4" and about which Anna has previously posted. Still, worth a look, if only for the scenery and sunshine...

            I've given copies of Ottolenghi's book Jerusalem to two friends as birthday presents and they've both been delighted by its unusual mixture of delicious recipes and social history of this complex city.
