Tues 12 February '13 Shrove Tuesday ... Pancakes!!

    Pancake Day!

Here's a demo about how to make the batter ...

For breakfast, dessert or just as a snack, crepes are an endlessly versatile vehicle for creative toppings

Are you a lemon & sugar person? Or a butter and maple syrup fancier? Does Nuttella work?

Are there more questions than answers

Never mind the pancakes - just make sure you get shriven!

I'm sorry jean, but the phrase "never mind the pancakes" does not compute!

If someone is making them, then sugar and lots of lemon but I never make them for myself as I confess I don't particularly like them. And I don't give up anything for Lent either. A friend who constantly eats biscuits and sweets at work and home gives both of them up and usually loses around 4lbs (the good work is undone when she pigs out on Easter eggs of course) but she says the discipline really does make her feel better and purer.

I'll give up my New Year Resolutions for Lent.

It's years since I made pancakes - probably when miss m was very young. I always used caster sugar and lemon juice. I was quite adept at tossing them, if I do say so myself.

Am 51, assume you're heading off to Maida Vale for the BBCSO Matinee and only then onto pancakes ?

Freshly squeezed orange juice - a little sugar depeding on the sweetness of the oranges.

Lemon & sugar on the first couple; after them I'll experiment. Unlike Jean I love pancakes.

My partner's daughter used to have lemon, sugar, Nutella, jam - all on the same pancake. She now thinks she's more sophisticated, but I bet that given half a chance she'd do the same!

                  ROFL.
Make a really easy nice resolution, then they are a doddle.
Had our pancakes a day early with a courgette, onion, mushroom and cashew mix, cooked in a little curry paste.
                  Yum.

No heading off for me for a while, Alison as a result of a sudden impact of my person with the icy pavement last evening Nothing broken but I find that I've run out of flour so perhaps no pancakes for me on the day.

But then who needs a reason to have pancakes? Every day can be Pancake Day

How about savory ones? We are going to have them with Bacon in tomorrow!
(and normal ones with lemon juice and sugar for dessert)
                      Best regards,
                      Jonathan

Do you put chopped cooked bacon in the batter mix, Jonathan or a slice of cooked bacon in the folded cooked pancake?

Enjoy, BBM! - but surely that's the Canadian way (home of gen-u-wine maple syup, surely?)
